The Stag is such a fantastic find. We are new to the area and went last night. To be honest we had reservations at a different restaurant on the square and had a horrible experience so left after drinks. Wandered over to The Stag. From the moment we walked in, we knew it was a great place. The hostess was super sweet and when we sat down and were promptly greeted by Emanuel, we knew our evening was making a turn for the better. Emanuel made fantastic recommendations and was always checking on us frequently. The food was very delicious and so were the drinks. It was literally the best lamb I had ever had. My husband is a retired food and beverage director and he was thoroughly impressed with the whole place. Especially with the service and that this was the first place we have been to here in GA that the bartenders knew what they were doing and made drinks properly and efficiently. Kudos to the Stag. We will be back for sure and as Emanuel put it, we have found our new fav place.
Coming to Gainesville for business I love it here. Great steak, ! The creme brulee was also amazing. Rich and creamy with a touch of fresh strawberries for a perfectly balanced bite.
Had a great experience here. Food and service are 10 out of 10! Emanuel gave the best service! He recommended great dishes as well. We had the fried tomato sliders. The pimento cheese was full of flavor and delicious! The cheeseburger was cooked to perfection! We definitely will return!
Let me start by saying this pork chop wasn’t just a meal—it was a life event. Bone-in, thick-cut, seasoned like it knew it was the main character. Juicy, smoky, and so tender I considered proposing to it. I don’t usually fall in love with pork in public, but here we are. My wife had the Stag Salad, which sounds like it should come with a side of flannel and a lumberjack. But don’t be fooled—this was a classy pile of greens that made you feel healthier just looking at it. She claimed she loved it, but I noticed her fork kept wandering toward my plate. Suspicious. Now let’s talk about the beef tallow fries. These were not your average fries. These were fries that came back from a beefy bootcamp, got their act together, and now own property. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and richer than my 401(k). The asparagus? Respectable. Cooked perfectly, but definitely the student who did their homework early and didn’t cause any trouble. And then the crispy Brussels sprouts rolled in like the cool aunt at Thanksgiving—crackly, caramelized, slightly chaotic, and absolutely stealing the show. They were sweet, salty, crispy, and somehow made us forget we ever thought we hated Brussels sprouts as kids. In conclusion: if you leave this place hungry, that’s on you. If you leave this place in love with a pork chop, welcome to the club
This was our first visit and we were highly impressed. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The service was kind and attentive. The food was soooooo good. We started with the Brussels and they were delicious. I got a steak and my husband got the burger and fries. Even the fries were above caliber. The steak was cooked perfectly and the hamburger was great! We look forward to returning!
If you have never been to the Stag-Chophouse, you're missing a dining experience that may be the best overall experience I've ever enjoyed anywhere. Let me remind you that this fine dining experience is in Gainesville, Georgia.. I can not express enough thanks to Allie for the service she provided throughout. Emmanuel was helpful and learning fast. Under Allie's tudaledge, I am certain he will shine like the sun one day. In all seriousness, I would recommend to anyone who enjoys fine dining at its best to stop in and be amazed. The menu should be discussed with the expert staff. I can not do it the justice it deserves. After dining, i would definitely propose to finish off your evening in their lounge called the Antler room that is upstairs. Y'all come see what I'm talking about!! Bring your most beautiful people in your life into this beautiful atmosphere at this steakhouse, i've read it.The number one in Gainesville, for sure!
Brought the wife and mother in-law and was more than impressed. An amazing culinary experience. From cocktail and appetizer, to steaks, sides, and desserts, everything was on point. Service was perfect. These people really care about making your experience one to remember and I respect it. Compared to other fine dine chophouses, The stag exceeds the standard and at an affordable price. We will be returning to experience the private dining area for a full family event. Big shout out to Roland and his staff at the Stag. A reason to come back to Gainesville.
Another great meal at the Stag. The tomahawk steak was amazing and the hot honey Brussels sprouts were an excellent side to compliment the steak. We will be back soon. Excellent service and atmosphere.
